I am Dr. Subin P. George, Assistant Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at SASTRA Deemed University, Tamil Nadu, India. My work sits at the intersection of biomechanics, finite element modeling, and engineering design, with a focus on developing patient-specific computational models and assistive medical devices.
I earned my PhD from IIT Madras (2025), where my research centered on nonlinear finite element simulation of morphological lumbosacral spine models, including mesh morphing, sensitivity analysis of anthropometric parameters, and predictive modeling of vertebral loading. I also completed my MS (Engineering Design) from IIT Madras and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from TKM College of Engineering.
My research interests include computational biomechanics, spine mechanics, finite element analysis (Abaqus, LS-DYNA), medical image–based modeling, optimization, and assistive device design. I have contributed to several peer-reviewed journal and conference publications in these areas and have been involved in projects ranging from custom hip implants to a robotic sit-to-stand mobilizer for paraplegic patients.
In addition to academia, I have industry and translational research experience, including work with a startup ecosystem at IIT Madras and a visiting doctoral scholarship at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, contributing to human body modeling efforts. I have also served in teaching and research roles at multiple institutions, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and leading funded R&D projects.
I am passionate about bridging engineering research with real-world clinical and societal impact, particularly in musculoskeletal biomechanics, medical device design, and assistive technologies.
